The turnover of the Moscow service sector grew by 2.4%
The volume of paid services to the citizens in Moscow in January - March of the current year amounted to more than one trillion rubles, exceeding by 2.4% the figure of the same period of the previous year in comparable prices. This was reported by Maria Bagreeva, Deputy Mayor of Moscow, head of the capital's Department of Economic Policy and Development.
“The capital's service sector is growing rapidly thanks to the introduction of digital formats, which improves the comfort and popularity of services, as well as high demand in the tourism sector and related industries - culture, sports, hotel business. In the first quarter of 2025, the volume of paid services to the population exceeded one trillion rubles, which is 2.4% more than a year earlier. The greatest contribution to the growth was made by electronic services, education, household services, as well as culture and sports”, - emphasized Maria Bagreeva.
Electronic services continue to gain popularity among consumers: the turnover of this segment grew by 26.4% to 101.2 billion rubles. In addition to familiar services such as online movie theaters, game platforms, music sites, and cloud storage, new services are actively developing: subscriptions to paid AI, virtual assistants, and smart home services.
In the sphere of educational organizations, turnover increased by 15.2% to 97.2 billion rubles. This was due, among other things, to the high demand for additional professional education services - retraining and advanced training programs.
In the sector of household services to the population, the turnover increased by 15.2% to 65.6 billion rubles. The main contribution to the dynamics was made by housing repair and construction services, which showed an increase of more than 40% - up to 6.9 billion rubles.
Sports organizations earned 15.4 billion rubles in the first quarter. This is 19.6% more than a year earlier. Cultural institutions received 29.6 billion rubles, the growth was 7.3%. The turnover of the hospitality sector reached 38.2 billion rubles, exceeding by 6.3% the figure of the same period last year.
