Moscow and Guangzhou have announced cooperation in the field of sustainable urban development

Maxim Ivanov, General Director of the Moscow Analytical Center and President of the Guangzhou Institute of Urban Innovation (China) Changping Kuan signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of urban research and sustainable urban development. The landmark event took place at the Situation Center of the Mayor of Moscow on February 27.

The memorandum provides for the creation of an inclusive framework for cooperation in order to strengthen research collaboration, coordinate efforts and develop innovative solutions and policy recommendations in the field of sustainable urban development. As a first step, it is planned to prepare a joint study on the climate agenda of the BRICS megacities. In addition, Moscow and Guangzhou will release a joint report on global megatrends of urban development, which will be published at the end of 2024, as well as other studies.

"The Analytical Center of Moscow expresses openness to the development of international relations with expert collectives of countries that set themselves the goal of sustainable development of their cities and agglomerations. We welcome the beginning of bilateral cooperation with the Guangzhou Institute of Urban Innovation and hope that the achievements of our institutions will find mutual effective application," Maxim Ivanov summed up. 

It is important that the signed document will contribute to the further development of Russian-Chinese inter-municipal relations.
