Experts included Moscow in the top 5 best cities in the world once again

Moscow took fourth place in The World's 100 Best Cities rating of the 100 best global cities. It is released by the reputable consulting company Resonance Consultancy based on indicators such as tourist attraction, convenience for living, working and doing business. London is on the first line of the rating, Paris is the second, and New York has come the third. Dubai closes the top five.

“As it was last year, Moscow is the fourth in the rating of the best metropolises to live and work in, and travel to. The rating takes into account many parameters. International experts assess both business opportunities or, for example, the cultural environment, and how balanced the urban development is too. We reaffirmed our leadership positions, being ahead of the strongest competitors, such as Tokyo, Dubai, Singapore, Barcelona and Los Angeles,“ said Natalya Sergunina, Deputy Moscow Mayor.

When making the ranking, statistical indicators are assessed in 24 fields, grouped into six main categories: place, product, people, economic prosperity, leisure, progress. In the "Product" category, the Russian capital was recognized as the leader due to its well-developed infrastructure, flight connection and large number of attractions. Moscow is the second in the "Place" category for high level of safety and availability of high-quality parks. Moscow is on fifth line in the "Leisure" category; in terms of people education level it is among the top 3 after London and St. Petersburg, and in terms of the number of Instagram hashtags it is in the top ten.

“This year Moscow has significantly strengthened its position in the “Economic Prosperity” group of indicators, having jumped up from 64th to 25th place. The assessment was made on the basis of a number of economic indicators, including unemployment rate and per capita Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP). Let me remind you that the registered unemployment in Moscow is now 0.51 percent — the lowest level since last April,” said Vladimir Yefimov, Deputy Mayor for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations.

The capital of Russia is dynamically developing as an international technological center. Moscow has all conditions for developing and implementing innovations, emphasized Alexei Fursin, head of Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development.

“Thanks to the Moscow Government programs, startups can promote their developments supported by the Moscow Government and big business, test them in urban environment, and then start interacting with partners and customers. Thereafter, the most promising technologies are implemented into Moscow infrastructure, making the city still more innovative and attractive for residents and tourists,” Alexey Fursin added.

The World's 100 Best Cities rating is released since 2016 by the international consulting company Resonance. It takes into account statistics, feedback from the business community, industry professionals and tourists.
